“Call the Dogs” exhibit at South x Southeast Photo Gallery

A big thank you, Elizabeth Avedon. You made Oona’s Day. (And mine!) Oona is running in circles with the wonderful news that “Boat House” will be in the exhibit “Call the Dogs” at the sxsegallery. Online mid December through mid February. Photos are all for sale. Many thanks to Nancy McCrary, Publisher/Founding Editor, for her commitment to the sxsegallery.com

This photograph is part of a series captured during the quiet isolation of COVID at my husband's family camp. In the same cabin where generations of his family had slept, I reflected on their physical similarities and their bond to this place. What does it feel like to inherit such a deep connection to land and history? And for those displaced, what is lost in the absence of such rootedness? This series explores the tension between memory, legacy, and the fragility of connection to place.
